To Miss L.M. Platts, Hyndford House,Inglemere Road, Forest Hill, London S.E.
Dear Phleeby. This morning got your letter - or rather - postcard at poste restante for which many thanks. Expected one from the mother but she is evidently lazy. Have read of your weather - here very changeable one moment fine sunshine the next pouring with rain. However, we have seen all the principal monuments of Rome and are very sorry you are not here. We are a bit afraid you might have bust yourself as even such staid persons as ourselves rock with laughter - my best Italian seems to tickle Tilly very much. We often use the word bottle - this in Italian is Fiasco - uno grande fiasco seems very dreadful. Theo.”
