Odessa Waterworks 1901

The following photographs from the Odessa Flyer newspaper dated 20th May 1901 were scanned from the original paper by John Charles Platts, July 2001.

One of the four pump-machines delivering water into the city from a reservoir. Water pipes.

A general view (panaroma) from Chumnoi hill where the waterworks "Chumka" is situated. Translator's note: Chumnoi if translated from Russian basically means plague-stricken or have a connotation of 'a bit crazy','half-witted'.
